Strategic Thinking

Strategic thinking: How to Use the Mind to Win

Motivational Program

When challenges are tough, planning and using resources wisely is more valuable than having many resources. Strategic thought pays attention to what resources are available and finds efficient ways to use them.

It was particularly clear during the Kargil War because Indian Army soldiers managed to win despite the difficult environment where there was no appropriate winter gear. What made it possible for mankind to achieve such a journey? We need to rely on leaders who show courage and use smart strategies. This is a value we love at Inspiring Mantras, since Captain Akhilesh Saxena, a Kargil War hero and one of India’s top motivators, helps people learn the lessons of strengthening themselves and making bright choices through his very own life experiences.

Strategic Thinking is all about taking actions.

Strategic thinking lets you analyse a situation, select the best course of action, and carry out your plans effectively, despite facing tough chances. It shows the difference between responding without thinking and carefully responding. The Kargil War showed that the Indian Army had very few available resources. Even though soldiers did not have enough warm gear, they needed to climb snowy and dangerous mountains as temperatures dropped to -28 degrees Celsius. Conditions were tough, the enemy was skilled, and there were not many resources, yet what the Army possessed was good leadership, unity, and determination to win.

Guiding Principles of STRATEGIC Thinking Chosen from the Kargil War

From that Kargil War, Inspiring Mantras draws out inspiring lessons that have become the main foundation for the success of many leadership and motivational talks.

  1. Planning with Precision: Even without enough resources, warm clothes or good gear, the leaders made plan that allowed soldiers to climb in the night that avoid detection and use less ammunitions.
  2. Mission Goal is above personal goals: All missions were carried out based on one main objective. There was no question in what people were supposed to follow. Each member of the military understood what success meant.
  3. Giving Power to the Team: Leaders supported their men, shared instructions well, and frequently led the way, as shown by Captain Akhilesh Saxena, who was wounded but still went on fighting.
  4. Stay Calm during tough phase: Decision-makers in action must handle their emotions strongly because of the pressure, a key trait of strategic thinking.
