From Potential to Leader: A Unique Developmental Journey

This is precisely why Mahindra Finance decided to work closely with Inspiring Mantras to design a leadership programme for their selected top potential future leaders. This leadership programme or inspirational tour was intended to build the developmental journey from potential to future readiness as a leader. Some teachings can only be adopted through experience. A stage, boardroom or office can never provide that environment for leadership learning.Inspiring Mantras planned 10 sessions in three days to create an environment of transformation. The sessions were informal, interactive, live and soulful. Started right from lending in Leh to the entire journey.

Immersed in History, Forged in Leadership

The tour included visits to the war memorials and other unexplored locations. The briefing of the war by Captain Akhilesh Saxena and Shikha Akhilesh Saxena added a real flavour to the trip. You may travel yourself, but with the family of a war hero, it is like visiting the Kargil at the time of the Kargil War. It is like time transitioning to the year of 1999.

The journey of leadership is very much different for an officer of the armed forces than an executive in a corporate world. These men in uniform did not think twice before they marched towards their death to defend the country, without any incentive or rewards.

These leadership participants were taken back down memory lane to year 1999. The year of the Kargil war. When a battle took place in the faraway mountains of Ladakh, it was this war that rejuvenated nationalism, pride in the nation and pride in our soldiers that guarded our frontiers. In the actual surroundings of Kargil, each participant was able to get into the shoes of an actual combat leader having a nearly impossible task to achieve. Their perspective about life, competition, team and leadership changed and helped them evolve into a real leader, who will meet his objectives, whatever the market conditions or internal factors may be. The significant outcomes focused on were developing leadership characteristics within participants, namely, managing fear and leveraging failure, whole brain thinking, mindfulness, trust and multipliers, which were achieved through ten sessions and visits.

Experiential Learning: Key Outcomes

In the actual surroundings of Kargil, each participant was able to get into the shoes of an actual combat leader having a nearly impossible task to achieve. The perspective about life, competition, team, and leadership changed and helped to evolve into a real leader, who will meet his objectives, whatever the market conditions or internal factors may be. The significant outcomes focused on were developing leadership characteristics within participants, namely:

1. Manage Fear and Leverage Failure:  Understanding that setbacks are stepping stones.
2. Whole Brain Thinking:  Harnessing both analytical and creative problem-solving.
3. Mindfulness:  Developing presence and focus under pressure.
4. Trust and Multiplier:  Building cohesive teams where each person elevates the others.

These crucial characteristics were achieved through ten sessions and the powerful on-site visits.
